истОбразована в 1942 как вспомогательная служба Сухопутных войск [Women's Auxiliary Army Corps; WAAC]. В 1943 вошла в основной состав Сухопутных войск [ Army, U.S.] и получила новое название. К середине второй мировой войны в ее составе было около 100 тыс. женщин, во время войны в Корее [ Korean War] - около 12 тыс.
